If not, keep reading to learn more about changing a bathroom light fixture.
Turn Off the Power In The Bulb
You may already know this, but there is one thing we all miss when we’re looking at our bathroom fixtures, and that’s the power going in the light fixtures. It’s almost like we’ve all become wired to have a light bulb in the bathroom. We’re drawn to these lights like we’re all predisposed to like them.
So, turn the power off in the bathroom lights. And when you’re done, clean the old light cover and remove the bulbs. If you’re still not sure where the light fixtures go, take a look at the wiring diagram below and you should be able to spot the little black things hanging from the fixture.
Remove The Old Light
The old light fixtures can be a real pain to get out of the way and replace with new light fixtures. So, remove them and replace them with new fixtures. As with all bathroom fixtures, remove the old light first and then remove the new light.
Clean The Old Light Cover
Like all fixtures, the old light cover should be cleansed each spring and summer. Not only is this a good idea, but it’s also the easiest way to get rid of any build-up that might be left behind from the old light fixtures.
Undo The Wires
It’s not easy getting rid of old light fixtures, but we do it anyway. We hope you’re willing to do the same. If not, there are a few different methods to take. One of them being the most effective and quickest methods is to use new wrenches and remotes.
You can buy remotes that have a built-in trick that will make it so that you can remove the old light from the wall and onto the wall beside it. If you have the space and the time, this could be your brilliantly transformed bathroom.
Reconnect The Wires
As we mentioned above, there are a few different ways to take these wires out of a bathroom light fixture. We use an insulated wire stripper every spring and summer to remove the excess insulation from these wires. We recently started using a different kind of wire stripper to take the old light out of the wall. This is great because it means we don’t have to remove the lights from the wall next winter.
Attach The New Light
Attaching the new light is another one of those things that are up-to-date and easy to do. You can set up a photo shoot every spring and summer to light up the bathroom. Or, you can use it for an office project and have the lights illuminate the entire room.
You may also want to consider whether it’s a good idea to keep the old light fixtures around. Especially if it’s a bit out of date. They’re practically useless without the old light fixtures.
So, take them out, remove the old light, and replace it with the latest and greatest. With the right light fixture, any old or old-fashioned light fixtures are history.
See If All Is Well
If all is well with your new bathroom lights, you can turn them on and off as needed. You will still have to clean the old light cover, but it should be a pretty light cleaning since it’s coming from the wall.
Turn On The Power
If all is well with your new bathroom lights, turn them on. If not, you can clean the old light cover, remove the old light, and replace it with the new light.
And if all is well in your bathroom, flip the switch off and on again. You should be able to start the process all over again. If not, you should be able to start the process all over again.
Conclusion
It’s the beginning of the new year, and we’re all eager to start thinking about what our New Year’s resolution bathroom is going to be. But before we get started, it’s important to first figure out what lights we have and what we’re going to replace them with. That’s where changing a light fixture comes into play.
